If you have played Subnautica on mobile or PC, you will notice that the controls are slightly different on Below Zero mobile, as some tools now use an action joystick instead of a button.

Note: some action buttons can be used as a mini-joystick, allowing you to aim while using the tool.

Action joysticks

Same as PC behaviour

  • Scanner: holding the Joystick plays animation once, and then it plays the animation again when an available target enters the reticle
  • Repair Tool: holding the Joystick plays the animation and keeps the arm straight
  • Laser Cutter: holding the Joystick plays the animation and keeps the arm straight
  • Seatruck Perimeter Defense Upgrade: holding the Joystick charges the electrical power, releasing it triggers the electrical attack
  • Swim up/down buttons: holding the button controls the camera and keeps the character moving in the expected direction

Same as PC behaviour, but allows you to use the joystick when the arm is on cooldown

The action is performed instantly if the joystick is held and the cooldown is complete.

  • Prawn Suit Default Arm: holding the joystick plays the animation and keeps the arm straight
  • Prawn Suit Drill Arm: holding the joystick plays the animation and keeps the arm straight
  • Prawn Suit Grappling Arm: holding the joystick launches the grappling hook and locks it. If the grappling hook is coming back while the joystick is held, then the grappling hook is launched instantly when it's back to the arm.

Loop (not the same as PC - holding the button plays these actions on loop)

  • Survival Knife: holding the joystick plays the animation in a loop
  • Thermoblade: holding the joystick plays the animation in a loop

Hold & Release

  • Flare: releasing the joystick launches the flare
  • Pathfinder Tool: releasing the joystick launches the node
  • Prawn Suit Torpedo Arm: releasing the joystick launches the torpedo (allow to take the joystick when it's on cooldown, and launch torpedo when cooldown is done)
